    Sensing Seminar Reflection

The Shape of a Practice Discourse Program

    Seminar reflection and discussion
With Allison Stegner, Yasaman Sheri and seminar participants

Sensing can be manifold and radically divergent depending on the practices and entities involved in “making sense.” “The senses” are often classified according to categories that view the sites of sensation through humanistic lenses. But it is worthwhile to explore the extent to which approaches to sensing are a product of specific cultural, political, or even human habits.

In this seminar reflection session, moderators Allison Stegner and Yasaman Sheri will facilitate a discussion alongside the participants of their seminar Sensing, which has taken place over the course of the week. They will share and unpack what happened in the seminar and how the related case studies were re-oriented around their capacities and modalities for “sensing” the Anthropocene. Together, they will discuss how the transformation of sensing to alternative and more than human practices can inform different approaches of inquiry.

The event will be streamed via The Shape of a Practice online environment: http://shape.anthropocene-curriculum.org
