    Mining Conversations

The Futurepasts of ... Shale Oil and Gas

Mining Conversations | The Futurepasts of … invites you to their fifth session – this time on Shale Oil and Gas. Mining Conversations are an open monthly online space for exchanges and collaborations across practices, temporalities, and across extraction and energy landscapes.

The next session will take place on September 22, 8pm (CEST), please register via the link here.

Each session connects different perspectives to better understand the social, material, technological, and environmental forces at play. The series seeks to provide the needed space for cross-practice, international and reflective conversations about mining among artists, academics, activists, and other persons interested in mining.
Next session on ‘Shale Oil and Gas’:
    – Benjamin Steininger (moderation and introduction), cultural and media theorist, historian of science and technology, and curator, MPI of Geoanthropology
    – Silas Grant, interdisciplinary scholar and activist, University of New Mexico
    – Monika Halkort, sociologist and head of the School for Transformation at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna
    – J. T. Jack, sociologist, University of Groningen

The series is hosted by the Max Planck Institute of Geoanthropology and the Anthropocene Commons network.
