Rodolfo Andaur was born in Iquique in the north of Chile. He studied journalism and holds an MA in art history. He has worked as a contemporary art curator in the “northern axis” of South America, promoting and disseminating Chilean art in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Peru. He worked as curatorial assistant to Chilean-Swiss artist Ingrid Wildi Merino for her exhibition/research project Dislocación. In addition, Rodolfo has been a member of curatorial teams focusing on critical analysis and reflection on contemporary art in Chile: Chile Triennial (2009) and Transcripcion_Local (2010–11). Not only did both exhibitions produce knowledge through the medium of contemporary art, they also contributed to the dissemination of contemporary Chilean art on an international level. Thanks to this background, in 2011 Rodolfo received an award from the FNDR for his contribution to regional cultural management. This led to him participating in curatorial residencies in the United States, Germany, New Zealand, and South Korea. He also directed and edited the multidisciplinary magazine Sonares, and is currently a columnist for http://www.arteycritica.org/, http://www.a-desk.org/, and Arte Manifiesto in Lima, Peru, as well as a professor in curatorial studies in a couple of universities in Chile.
