Colin Summerhayes is a marine geologist and oceanographer carrying out research on global climate change. His expertise encompasses the role of climate in forming marine sediments of different types, especially seabed resources of phosphate and oil and gas, to the interpretation of the history of climate from sedimentary records.
An Emeritus Associate at the Scott Polar Research Institute of Cambridge University, his recent publications include “Oceanography: an Illustrated Guide,” “Antarctic Climate Change and the Environment,” “Earth’s Climate Evolution,” and a textbook on “Paleoclimatology.” Colin is a past President of the international Society for Underwater Technology, and a past Vice President of the Geological Society of London. He is a member of the Anthropocene Working Group.
