Twenty-four hours on a native grassland, sound art by Vicki Hallett. Worldwide native grasslands are under threat from invasive species, overgrazing, land clearing, urban sprawl, and use of pasture grasses. In Australia, ninety-nine percent of native grasslands are extinct. On small places such as Mount Rothwell in Southeast Australia, native grasses have been reintroduced. This soundscape is twenty-four hours on a native grassland compressed into seven minutes. © all rights reserved Vicki Hallett, photographs of Mount Rothwell by Pete James © All rights reserved
