With an introduction of local expert, speaker and tour guide Jeremy Houston, and the program for the day, by Natchez Field Station Curator and Researcher Maya Kóvskaya.
Natchez native Jeremy Houston is co-founder of Miss Lou Heritage Group & Tours, which offers richly contextualized tours of historic Natchez that focus on the African American history and experiences that often omitted, sanitized, or whitewashed by many of the traditional Antebellum Natchez historical tours offered to visitors from around the world. He graduated from Northeast Mississippi Community College in 2007, and is a five-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served in Afghanistan. Jeremy is also Chairman of The National Black United Front Natchez, and has written and performed a series of historical re-enactments, including Narrative of A Natchez Slave, Isabella & The Prince, Hiram & John, and The Lynch’s.
